Confusion of the day

So I usually check cnn.com everyday to find out what is happening in the world, and today one of the top stories really confused me... a puppy chewed off a babies toes and was sent to the pound... but calls are pouring into the pound to adopt the puppy, and no one has showed any concern for the baby, wierd? I think so

read it for yourself and tell me what you think... http://www.cnn.com/ ( It's the video properly entitled, "puppy chews off babies toes")

Shout Out

Ok so this is the ever so cliche shout out post that everyone has to have. Hopefully this will be a series. I hear those are cool too, so number one shout out goes to MY FAT FOUR JAKS. Jill Amanda Katie Sarah is what that stands for. These are my best girlfriends in the whole world. Each special and unique in their own ways, they have all contributed something amazing and special into my life. The four of us were inseperable during our high school years(minus one year which wont be mentioned) We went to dances in each others groups, ate lunch every day, had bible study together every week and hung out every weekend. Honestly when we were seperated to go our own ways for college, it was the hardest moment of my life. I actually had to drive Sarah to college with her sister and then leave while crying hugging her sister. It's hard after being together all the time to go to seeing each other only once in a while and with boyfriends, jobs and school, its hard to just hang out with the four of us either. I want to tell everyone how special each and everyone of these girls is in my life.

Jill Maag:We met in the 7th grade at our C group. Instantaneous friends. Jill has a passion for life and for her faith. She is always an example to me with her ability to stand up for herself and never let herself be compromised. She has shown me love when I didnt deserve it and laughter when I needed it.

Amanda Sargent: Also met in 7th grade at our C group. Amanda is a source of happiness to me. In her own way is one of the funniest people I know (in a PLNU sort of way). She is strong beyond words and always lives her life for today, never worrying about the future. She is amazingly smart and has a zest for life that is so inspiring.

Sarah Morines: Sarah hit me in the face with a softball in the 3rd grade and so we didnt like each other until our sophomore year of high school.(she also claims that I was a mean girl... whatever.) Sarah is humorous beyond words and encouraging in so many ways. Right when I am down Sarah is there to help me up. Always speaking her mind and letting me know when I need a kick in the pants. She has lifted me up out of so many bad situations and has showed me what it means to be a true follower of Christ.

I owe these girls so much. My life is dramatically different without them by my side 24/7 but its amazing to be able to go through life with them and watch us grow as friends.

So there is my first shout out!

Germ Freak

Ok so tonight was seriously so boring Ryan Garvin and I were coming up with some pretty fun things to do...

Ryan read his entire manual on his really old volvo and I searched the internet for award winning holiday decorated homes and tickets for the tyra show.

The best part of the night ,a lady comes into our office coughing. Ryan is the biggest germaphobe in the world. So when she coughs DIRECTLY into his face he keeps his cool until she walks away where he then rushes to the back room to mix together 2 "emergen-c" packets and dump them into his water. He turns on the fan near his desk to "rid the germs" and then looks for more disinfectant.

I don't know what those two funny stories have to do with one another but they were funny to us and I thought I should share.

School is almost out

This literally is my favorite time of the year. School is about to get out (after a week of finals aka... terror)and I could not be more excited about it. This semester was so painfully boring (minus political science with Sarah which was awesome and we are seriouly considering being president)I am so done with it. I love christmas time though. The sights, smells, activities I love it all, even the cold. Though my family hasnt started to decorate yet, the office where I work hasa giant tree and the lights on the houses all makes it "chrismassy" Plus Brandon works at a christmas tree lot so sometimes his car will smell like a good old fashioned pine tree. Thought I would share with you some highlights of what I am looking forward to most about Christmas 2006:

1. Spending time with family
2. Eating awesome food
3. Working with my favorite people in "the cave"
4. decorating the tree with my family and watching a christmas story
5. Going to christmas service
6. Christmas Eve at my grandmas house (its in palm springs so it will consist of swimming and delicious food and most likely a football game or two)
7. Leaving for Michigan 2 days after christmas to meet and spend some time with Brandons family
8. Ski, toboggan, snow mobile and drink hot chocolate in Michigan.
9. New years eve
And the number one exciting event of the season:(besides Michigan which will rock)
10. Starting my last semester at a community college in January.... Yay!!Time for big college!

The Comebacks

Saturday night was so much fun. Sarah Morines, her mother, father, sister and sisters two friends along with myself went to be extras in a movie entitled the comebackers. Ok, so the movie stars the cowboy from anchorman(aka whammy!), Matthew Lawrence, Rory from 8 simple rules and the one handed man from Happy Gilmore. We drove up to cal State Fullerton and sat in the football stands and pretended to cheer for this team from 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Heres the breakdown of my thoughts good and bad.
Good parts:
-got to hang out with the funniest family ever
-was able to see up close(well through binoculars) my 5th grade love Matthew Lawrence
-Got in trouble for stealing one of the dummies faces and wearing it.
-Received a free apple
-Sarah and I pretending we were the stars on the way there and treating everyone like our "people"

Bad Parts:
- The staff lied to us and told us that they would feed us at 10 but never did
-The staff yelled at us numerous times to which my response of "you're mean" generated a very positive laugh and high fives
-it was seriously -5378958 degrees with the wind
-the boys behind us yelled nasty things at the cheerleaders throughout

The most amazing part of the whole night:
Mrs Morines was mad that we were treated so badly so she stole a face mask from a dummy and wore it out. Then she snuck up on me and becky and literally scared the life out of us. Genious I tell you, Genious.

So if you have any interest in being an extra... www.beinamovie.com can let you know of more oppurtunities.

Revoke my thanksgiving review

Ok so many people are angered by my thanksgiving review. I did not mean to offend anyone. My thanksgiving was great! I loved the amazing food we ate and of course I love spending time with my loved ones. My criticism in the holiday was only because I compare it to christmas... which is my favorite. That holiday you not only get to spend time with family, but you get to give and receive gifts, listen to great music... including the Shannon family favorite of Manheim Steamroller(spelling?) and there are great smelling decorations everywhere. And hello our savior was born. So my deepest apologies to anyone who thought that my day was terrible because of my previous blog, MY DAY WAS AWESOME! And filling!

thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was pretty sweet this year, I had two of them. One at my aunts house one at my house. My aunts house was filled with food and strangers and my house was my family and grandparents. Due to boredom, my sister and I created these magnificent turkeys and I thought the world should know about them. I did decide this year, that thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday. I don't know why, there is just not that much excitement involved in it for me. So enjoy..

Unlikely treat

I am not a huge candy person not a chocolate person but there is one treat that I love. Chocolate covered gummy bears. The sound of it is gross at first, but when I took my first bite it was love. Amazing gifts like these should not be kept quiet... share some with your loved ones this holiday season.

Lazy Sunday

Yesterday was a great day. I woke up late, ate some cinnamon toast with my mom and then read the paper. At around 12:30 I decided to take my dog for a walk. The scorching weather was not our friend and the tired little slacker barely made it around the neighborhood. I returned home only to lay in my bed and watch fever pitch and then elizabethtown. I eventually cleaned my room, read some magazines and helped my mom make dinner. After some more couch time with the fam I went to rock harbor with Brandon(after a slurpee run) only to hear an amazing sermon on what it really means to worship. Overall, a really great day. No complaints here.

WHAT?!!??!?

Freaking Faith Hill... no one really knows if this was her joking or serious but I think its funny irregardless. It kind of reminded me of the friends episode " the one where Joey loses"

if this is real it is the epitome of a sore loser.

Can someone please explain this to me....

A new obsession/fascination of mine is Criss Angel. Brandon, Sarah and I spend our nights watching this crazy man perform all kinds or "tricks" But unlike David Blaine... whose tricks amaze the mind Criss Angel's tricks literally leave you scared and dumbfounded. The other night he pulled a woman apart... her torso ran away from her legs screaming. He then stayed the night in a hotel with a ghost and I can not even begin to explain how mystified Sarah and I were. It was crazy... people were crying and ran away. Some of my favorite tricks of his are:
-lifting a taxi off the ground
-ripping a woman in half, and then putting her back together
-punching a man through his chest and having his arm come out the other side
- levitating from one building to the other

As a christian its hard for me to understand how all this works... any ideas?

Sisters First dance

My sister went to her first Dance this past week. It was awesome to see her all grown up and looking gorgeous, Brandon and I got to be the unofficial photographers of the night and it was very fun. Although we took more pictures of us then the dance group, it all turned out alright.

Pet Peeves

I have so many pet peeves it's ridiculous. I thought I would share them with blogger world... so here it goes.

1. I hate when teachers take attendance by sign in sheet, and then never pass it around. I feel like I could have left so many times throughout the semester, or taken that sick day, or heck, even just slept in, but the fear of the sign in sheet keeps me going back.
2. I hate when drivers are preparing to make a right hand turn but stay fully in the lane, they do not in any way pull to the side in order to turn, causing me to have to slow down. Also, no turn signals... or signals left on. Makes me crazy!
3. Lake Forest Road. Most people hate El Toro, but I would rather take that road any day. Going up Lake Forest towards the mountains, is terrible. All uphill, all slow people that are going to turn into their neighborhoods. It is very annoying and I avoid it at all costs. Unless it is wednesday night and I am going to girls night at Kelsey's, then sacrifices are made.
4. The sound of people chewing, makes me tick. I cannot stand it. There is one person in particular who is the worst, but he shall remain nameless ( no its not you B)
5. One of my worst pet peeves of all time, is when I am calling someone or being called on the phone, and they neglect to ask me how I am. Selfish... maybe... OCD...possibly, but it gets me everytime. Especially if I have had a big event take place, like a test or a speech, its common courtesy, if you call someone to ask them how it went. And for some reason if the person on the other end doesnt ask, and I have already divulged into the contents of their day, it's over... Im pissed.
6. If a frame is crooked on a wall, I have to fix it, this is more OCD then pet peeve, but it bugs me as well.
7. Now I know all of these have been negative, but thats what pet peeves are, they are things that make you tick... on the other hand, negativity is a huge pet peeve of mine. Especially if there is nothing to be negative about. I understand bad days happen... but lighten up. This goes for sweating the small stuff. So what, you dropped food on your shirt, youre over it. no need to flip out. Tide Stick.. hello.
8. Un necessary cursing. there is no need to call your friend a F****** Crazy F******, its just wierd, and doesnt make sense.
9. Rude people, if you are rude, stay away.
10. Going to the nail salon and hearing the ladies chatter to each other knowing that they are talking about you. Its creepy. And makes me feel terrible.

So there you have it, thats only 10 of many, so I will keep you posted if any more happen.

feel free to share your own...

Why does this make me so sad..

Another one bites the dust.... as an avid celebrity watcher, this is a sad day. Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon are getting divorced, after 7 years of marriage and two children. I thought I was sad when Nick and Jessica got divorced, but this is too much.

You can read more about it here...

Hell and Birthdays

This saturday is going to be a night of hell. One of my best friends Kelsey turned 20 yesterday and she decided that for a celebration of this day, she would like to go to knotts scary farm. Now, hold the phone. Lets back up to sophomore year when I walked up to the knotts scary farm gates, only to be so incredibly scared, that I went home. I vowed at that moment that I would never set foot in those terrible gates. I just don't understand the thrill of being scared that badly. To this day I still cannot watch scary movies or go anywhere in the dark alone. (That includes the garage.) So when she told me that this was what she wanted to do, what was I to do? Say no? That would be terrible, she came to my super awesome rollerskating party! So I should have to go to her ghoulish party?!!!?!?

So it is Wednesday and I am already scared. I have mixed reviews on the true "scariness" of this place... so fill me in.

The wonderful world of TV

I have noticed that over the past year I have become somewhat of a TV-a-holic. Now this does not mean that I sit around all day and watch TV but ever since TiVo was introduced into my home, I tape anything and everything with a somewhat interesting plot... I thought I would share with you my top 10 TV shows that I try to watch...whenever I am not working, at school or spending time with loved ones. These are in no particular order except for number 1.

10. Little people big world
9. Laguna Beach (such a guilty pleasure)
8. Greys Anatomy
7. Oprah (especially lately with the whole Oprah and Gayles big adventure series every Tuesday)
6. The nine
5. Sadly I Still watch the bachelor even though I hate it...
4. Friends (a mix of reruns and DVD seasons)
3. Law and Order.. CSI.. or anything that has to do with law.
2. Americas Next top model
1. My favorite show that has ever graced the earth... LOST>

So there you go, those are my shows. Maybe if you were reading through blogs today thinking to yourself... There are no good shows on television today, you read this and were inspired to sit down... relax.. and enjoy.

The Disneyland Pass

My life has been radically changed because of one little piece of plastic... the disneyland pass. For one year I have been debating to get one or not to get one. But two weekends ago my instincts(and my bank account) told me to go for it. I did and it has been amazing. I can go whenever I want to and because my friends all have one, I can go with whoever I want to. So if you have a pass and you ever want to go with me, lets go!

The Bachelor:Rome

Ok So last night my best friend Sarah and I were spent the majority of our evening watching "the bachelor:Rome" Now my first thought was "Awesome, the bachelor is always amazing." But within the first 5 minuets I knew this one would suck. Sarah and I ended up just talking about how stressful college is and only watching the show when we heard the Paris Hilton "Acta-like" say something completley dumb.

Tell me your thoughts.

Tonight at the 7-11

Tonight at the 7-11 was one of the wierdest experiences ever. After a long night of crave and Greys Anatomy, my boyfriend and I decided that we could use a slurpee. So at 11:00 at night we drove to 7-11. There were two men working. One man was the checkout man and the other was washing the cement outside with a large hose and a really old broom. B and I walked inside the store, filled up our cups ( I decided against a slurpee and filled up on snickers hot chocolate... so nasty) While we were checking out odd situation #1 occurred.

Smelly 7-11 man asked me if our drinks were together, since my boy-f is so chivalrous he said, "yes, thank you" And thought that would settle it. Well the man rang up B's slurpee and forgot mine, so I said, very kindly, "oh, this one too please!" Smelly 7-11 man says, I asked you if you wanted both and you said no. Confused and thirsty I just looked at him. He slowly slowly slowly turned my cup around to scan it and then took our money and left us.

Odd situation #2.
While walking back to our car laughing about odd situation #1, B looks up and sees that the cement washing man is literally watering our car. He looks at the man and the man stops, going on about his business like he hadn't just completley drenched our car. So now we find our selves with one nasty hot chocolate, 1 giant slurpee and 1 very wet car.

That was my night.

Well everyone here I am, in blogging world. I figured since my job consists of sitting at a computer all day I might as well blog while I sit up here.

Thank you Josh Griffin for making me get a blog.
